Freewill
Offering
The word tithe is derived
from the Old English word "teogoža" meaning tenth, and
refers to a voluntary contribution, or a tax or levy given
to support a religious organization or clergy. Specifically,
this was an amount set at ten percent of one's annual
earnings. Today, tithes (or tithing) are normally voluntary
and paid in some form of currency, whereas historically
tithes could be paid in kind, such as agricultural products.
Some interpretations of
Biblical teachings conclude that although tithing was
practiced extensively in the Old Testament, it was never
practiced or taught within the first-century Church. Instead
the New Testament scriptures are seen as teaching the
concept of "freewill offerings" as a means of supporting the
church.
I like the sound of that
expression much better, probably because it feels more
attached to the Soul than the Church. I believe in tithing
or freewill offerings as a way to give and enhance the flow
of energy around me. Maybe the angels are playing a trick on
me to write about giving at a time when there is so much
focus and fear around the economy! Oh well, I will go along
with it (tee hee).
In my attempt to keep a
well-defined and healthy perspective on freewill offerings,
I may have over-analyzed. Because I work with energy a lot,
I believe my offerings are more in the vein of agricultural
products. In other words, I give back some of the energy
that I have farmed in the back space that I lovingly call my
Sacred Room. I freely give a portion of time, energy and
money to my family, friends and community in order to have
that experience in my world. I will now ask the angels for a
freewill offering:
When you stand in the
image of creation, your nature is to give. This is your
spiritual connection with everything that is Holy or
Sacred in your life. This feeling of giving has a direct
relationship with joy, love and happiness.
It is important for you discern tithing for yourself. An
unbalanced flow in the area of giving can lead to or
re-enforce blocks in receiving. Without balance in life,
inner peace and harmony can seem illusive, energy levels
can drop, relationships can suffer and the Lower Self may
find a voice in an area where there once was none.
Self-imposed rules about freewill offerings are nothing
more than the sound of the Lower Self building paradigms.
The slow evolution into these structures creates barriers
that will take a conscious effort to remove, therefore it
is important to review this area of life on a regular
basis.
A freewill offering of energy can take place in the blink
of an eye with wide-ranging effects, so don't
underestimate your power in this area. The ultimate source
of movement of energy through tithing comes in the mirror
as a reflection of God, Divine Source and Universal
Oneness. This is where true balance occurs and the
richness of life is felt at a Soul-satisfying level. As
you look into the mirror, the eye becomes the window to
your Soul, and inside this landscape you will find the
essence of your freewill offerings.

and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
