Angel Whispers

Angel Whispers is a weekly inspirational message from your angels by Russell Forsyth.

Week of November 24:

Discernment

When I first started doing these Angel Whispers, I had some resistance to the commitment. With some angelic guidance reaching the 'nagging' level, I decided that one full year would be the length of this focus on words and their meanings. I am well past that first year, thanks to the unexpected rewards of the undertaking.

The benefits have been wide-ranging, from the interesting perspectives of my readers, to my own spiritual uplifting. My commitment of time and expense every week has paid big dividends in areas that were well outside of my own discernment.

Discernment is a term used in Christian tradition to describe the process of discerning God's will for one's life. In large part, it describes the interior search for an answer to the question of one's vocation. Disturbances of the imagination and errors of sensibility thwart the operations of the intellect and will by deterring the one from the true and the other from the good. The Creator willed that there should be communication between angels and men, and as the angels are of two kinds, good and bad, the latter try to win us over to their rebellion and the former endeavor to make us their companions in obedience.

Part of my weekly discernment is in the search for the meaning that resonates with me the most. The above definition came from the Wikipedia, and I must admit that I never met an angel I didn't like or that I would remotely consider bad (lol). I will also admit that things do exist outside my realm of experiences.

According to Miriam-Webster, this word was born in 1586 with a meaning that expresses the "quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure." That's my cue to dive into the pool of obscure communication for a whisper on discernment:

Discernment is engaging in the energy of discovery and often leads to illumination of the truth. It can also lead to the creation of illusions. If you are finding resistance in the body or heart area, it is time for some discernment. Resistance is often a signal that there is something the soul needs to balance energy. Failure to discern the resistance is a delay response and can signal that you are not willing or able to go there.

Your life path is always an area of discernment, unless you are feeling love and divine flow present throughout your day. The landscape is constantly changing and that is the reason why some of you awaken to a discontent that was not in the awareness the previous day. Meditation, counseling and acts of reflection during these moments will help you with discernment.

If you want to engage in discernment, the first action would involve the opening of the heart, mind and soul. This allows a deepening of spirit to enhance the moment of perception that will bring truth into discernment. Impulsive behaviors can limit the experience by eliminating time for discernment. This bypass can be beneficial for greater understanding, such as learning patience and tuning in to the vibrations of guidance and intuition.

If you want to learn, take a moment to discern.

Bring joy, ease suffering and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
                       Blessings, Russell
