Week of December 7:
Fall
My thanks go out to
everyone who responded to last week's whisper on 'overglowing,'
a word that I made up (lol). The different words that each
person shared from their invented vocabularies were quite
entertaining, like Pam's 'fishmeckled' which means "out of
sorts." Of course it does, Pam! I was guided this week to a
simple choice with several possible meanings in the word
'fall.'
The alternative word fall
is now mostly a North American English word for the season
with traces to old Germanic languages. The term came to
denote the season in the 16th century, a contraction of
Middle English expressions like "fall of the leaf" and "fall
of the year." Autumn is nonetheless preferred in scientific
and often in literary contexts while the word 'fall' can
have several meanings as a verb or a noun.
In my November travels, I
witnessed the glorious fall season in Kona (Hawaii), Tulsa
(Oklahoma), Dallas, Waco (Texas), Ruidoso (New Mexico) and
of course Austin. Each time zone brought a particular beauty
to the eyes with its own unique perspective. I can honestly
say that in the month of November, I was lucky to witness
the vibrant colors that are always found in these nature
showcases in the fall. From the deep blue ocean filled with
canary yellow angelfish against a black lava rock, to the
burnt orange sunset that illuminated the pink and purple
clouds on the distant frontal wave, the colors of the fall
of '08 left lifelong impressions with me.
Since the meaning can vary
with each use, depending on the sentence, I will try to
focus on the significance to the meaning related to the
seasons. I will now gently and with gratitude ask the angels
to let a whisper fall into my ears with love and profound
meaning in order to color our lives like autumn leaves:
The harsh situations
that are always with you on your life journey can raise
filters of protection for those that choose to limit their
view. Filters can be serving, yet they can detract from
the human experiences. With eyes fully open, the colors of
nature and fall can impact the soul in ways that are
unimaginable. This speaks to the power of free will.
Every season brings great reminders and knowledge about
change and the acceptance of movement. With every ending,
the completion of a cycle heralds great new beginnings.
This is a benchmark for life itself. The new leaves of
springtime are a return to new life and abundance after a
dormant period that follows the loss of foliage. The
dormant period is time for the land to rest and the seeds
of time to be sown into the stars.
This moment in the history of man could be referred to as
'fall' in more ways than one. In the depth of wars, anger,
persecution, global pollution, poverty and disease, there
is a growing unwillingness to accept these as a conscious
choice. This is the way that social structures shift and
purge to bring in the new thoughts and ideas.
The strongest tree on the planet began as a seed in the
soul of Gaia. If you can believe that the Mother Earth is
a single growing and moving organism, then seeing the
vibrant colors of fall through the lens of pure love
becomes a way of life. In this light, the painter and the
painted become one in the landscape of art, where there is
no imitation needed, regarding the prospect of life.
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
