Complacency
This word keeps coming up in my time
with others and appears to be, at times, a negative
influence. We all have times that feel good with everything
in some sort of order, and a period of complacency can feel
like receiving the fruits of our effort. I can also look at
complacency as time to integrate lessons of life, like a
pause in our breathing.
Complacency by definition means a
feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware
of some potential danger, defect, or the like;
self-satisfaction or smug satisfaction with an existing
situation, condition, etc. I like this quote from Thomas
Huxley where he states, "The rung of a ladder was never
meant to rest upon, but only to hold a man's foot long
enough to enable him to put the other somewhat higher."
All the definitions that I found
for complacency speak of the danger that is possibly
hidden within a person's complacency, which I found
interesting because the angels sometimes relay this sense
of danger. When I think of the potential dangers, I tend
to think about our senses resting during times of
complacency. I will now ask for a whisper from an angel
without the energy of complacency to better understand
this meaning:
Times of complacency can bring
positive reflection on past, present and future activity,
therefore positive energy can result. This can come in
short bursts to positively affect your life as you
integrate new ideas, life changes, spiritual growth and
acceptance through taking pause.
Within those
positive features, you reach a point where you have
attained maximum potential. To carry complacency beyond
that moment can be detrimental to your intentions, purpose
and goals. When you decide to put off decisions and action
steps due to your complacency, you have decided to stop
conscious movement forward. A decision of putting off
action with a 'wait and see' attitude is a choice or
actionionable energy within itself and can be attached to
ego.
People who are experiencing success rarely
stop that momentum for any reason, so resting in the
energy of complacency can be a sign of fear or resistance.
You might think of complacency as energetic clutter that
allows feeling and emotions to "stack up" like clients in
a waiting room, eager to get your attention.
A
momentary pause to feel the vibrations of your true
direction is guided focus. Holding on to what you have is
the energy of control. True acceptance of all aspects of
life is love for God and Spirit. Love is the light to
entice you to move beyond complacency where and you will
leave old thought patterns, paradigms and repetitive
behaviors.
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
