Empowerment
This is a word that is near and dear
to my heart, especially since my job is to evoke
inspirational messages for the purpose of empowerment. But
is empowerment real or simply an overused term without much
significance? As I searched for meanings, I discovered that
the term "empowerment" can be a complex and
multi-dimensional concept.
Some of the qualities of
empowerment, according to the National Empowerment Center,
might include having decision-making power, having access to
information and resources, having a range of options from
which to make choices, assertiveness, feeling that the
individual can make a difference (being hopeful), learning
to think critically, learning to redefine who we are
(speaking in our own voice), learning to redefine what we
can do, learning to redefine our relationships to
institutionalized power, learning about and expressing
anger, feeling part of a group, understanding that people
have rights, effecting change in one's life and one's
community, changing others' perceptions of one's competency
and capacity to act, coming out of the closet, growth and
change that is never-ending and self-initiated, increasing
one's positive self-image, and overcoming stigma. All that
inside one word (tee hee)?
In addition, I discovered that
empowerment has institutional applications that rarely
involve personal decisions and choices. John F. Kennedy's
quote "And so, my fellow Americans: Ask not what your
country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your
country" was designed to lift up the whole country, by
empowering each individual. Let's see if there is a common
thread between empowerment and a whisper from an angel:
Empowerment is the energy that
occurs in defining moments of conscious shifting. Whether
it is during a healing crisis or a profound moment of
inspiration, empowerment occurs when your awareness
creates change that brings you more in alignment with your
Divine life-purpose.
Within the core of your existence, there is a truth that
aligns with your vibrations like a radio that tunes into
that perfect frequency in order to transmit information.
Enlightenment, illumination of the truth, vibrations of
your most loving essence and connection with the Highest
Power occur in the energy of empowerment in a stream of
Divine Love.
It is wise to discern the feeling of empowerment in the
human body to allow for an unobstructed flow of energy.
Divine energy is always empowering as it connects your
soul to the meaning of life and the reason for your
incarnation. When a person or situation takes your power
away by using ego judgments, control or negative energy,
the empowering response comes in the form of boundaries.
Personal empowerment could be supported by surrounding
yourself with like-minded people, finding the joy in life
and building faith through conscious living. Stand in the
light that emits the sound of your heart and then touch
others with that beautiful song to feel the energy of
empowerment.
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
