Week of August 2, 2009:
Direction
As you think about direction, have
you ever felt like you were standing at a precipice? You
don't want to go backwards since you have already been
there, and moving forward is full of fears around the
unknown. Finding direction in life can be challenging,
especially given all the decisions and perceptions that we
face.
Unlike our ancestors experienced,
today's world offers more choices in every aspect of life,
offering an invocation to simply decide what we want to do
with our life. Direction can mean the act of directing, of
aiming, regulating, guiding or ordering. Guidance,
management, superintendence, and administration such as the
direction of public affairs or of a bank brings full circle
the literal translation of direction and the influence of
leadership.
Aviator and author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
once said, "Life has taught us that love does not consist in
gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the
same direction." Like a river that flows with constant
energy, the direction of our energy can move in a similar
fashion as we maneuver the path in search of the elusive
choices of minimum resistance.
Sometimes we need help with
direction, and it is in those times we can turn to our
"Scouts" or "Guides" to get a bearing on just where the heck
we are (tee hee)! That guidance can come from within, or we
can look to external sources for signs like you would find
on any freeway. Let's see if we can get a glimpse of the
signpost ahead written on a whisper from an angel:
Like everything else in life,
you are making the choices. Choosing a direction and then
feeling like a victim within those choices can be an
indication that more than one area of your life needs some
focus or direction. A series of misguided action steps
illuminates the need for a quiet mind to see certain
truths regarding your existence.
Circumstances and events can form an illusion around your
direction that could make you feel as if there is only one
answer, or no clear response to your situation. This can
be a way of leading you to a great teaching or karmic
resolution, as well as a sign that you are complete in
that area and ready to move forward.
Duality teaches you acceptance and understanding so you do
not have to repeat patterns as you become anchored in your
faith. Without faith, your passion is compromised along
with your clarity of consciousness which can, in turn,
open the door to ego judgments and self-defeating
behaviors.
You might consider interviewing yourself with questions
like What direction takes me closer to my Divine life
purpose?, What does my heart desire?, and What purpose in
life vibrates with my core existence? or any question that
might unveil one of your deepest answers to life. There
you will find the direction that you seek.
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
Blessings, Russell
