Community
Many people are searching for
fulfillment in life with a desire to find love in the
areas of relationship, career, environment and community.
When the economy is going strong, the tendency is to focus
on the bank account and retirement through
wealth-building. When the economy is weak, the focus
shifts to matters of the heart and building community.
In sociology, the concept of
community has caused infinite debate, and sociologists are
yet to reach agreement on a definition of the term. There
were ninety-four discrete definitions of the term by the
mid-1950s. Traditionally a "community" has been defined as
a group of interacting people living in a common location.
The word is often used to refer to a group that is
organized around common values and social cohesion within
a shared geographical location.
Social cohesion and common values
brought a few people together unexpectedly this morning
while I was on my bike ride. I found a toddler wandering
the streets of my neighborhood with a small dog at her
side. Another motorist stopped when they saw the
situation, and together we coaxed a reluctant and
protective dog to show us his tag, from which we found an
address that was down the street. It felt good to return
the beautiful child to a very relieved mother who had just
discovered the missing child and a door opened by the dog.
Helping return that child helped me tap into community
energy!
Paul Newman once said, "I respect
generosity in people, and I respect it in companies too. I
don't look at it as philanthropy; I see it as an
investment in the community."It seems like we need
community now more than ever in order to find family,
support, comfort and the company of the caring individuals
with whom we share our lives. Let's get a whisper from the
community of angels:
Gathering and connecting with others
is an important aspect of the human journey that brings
teachings through shared experiences. Lessons of life can
be observed and empathized with if you are willing to see
through the eyes of another, which can offer growth
opportunities by your helping others and forming
relationships in a state of conscious living.
Capitalism has a brief history on the planet and has
helped form illusions about the path of mankind. In truth,
man has survived for centuries by building social
economies through communities. The framework of
communities has been altered by those that work to control
the masses for the purpose of greed and power. Each
purpose-filled life has the ability to bring change and
create communities within new structures of thoughts and
ideas. Many are pioneering new ways to leave old
paradigms, and this is creating energy that is building
community.
If you are feeling isolated or separated
from your community, you might find it helpful to
volunteer some time and effort to a worthy cause that is
dear to your heart. Helping others in a community
atmosphere can give you relief from your problems, help
you feel supported by others and pay forward energy that
the Universe will return many times over. Your community
is this world and this Universe, which makes planet Earth
your communal playground.

and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
