Enlightenment
This word gets kicked around so
much that it may have developed some negative connotations
in the minds of some people. People can speak of their
enlightenment with an elitist attitude, which doesn't help
the cause. But what does it really mean?
Enlightenment broadly means wisdom
or understanding enabling clarity of perception. However,
the English word covers two concepts which can be quite
distinct: religious or spiritual enlightenment, and secular
or intellectual enlightenment. This can cause confusion,
since those who claim intellectual enlightenment often
reject spiritual concepts altogether. In secular use, the
concept refers mainly to the European intellectual movement
known as the Age of Enlightenment, also called the Age of
Reason, referring to philosophical developments related to
scientific rationality in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Age of Reason sounds so
inviting, hopeful and enlightened! I now see that this word
is similar to other confusing terms like New Age,
Lightworkers and Angel Therapist® (tee hee). These words
sometimes represent ancient ideas that are resurfacing in
today's world and are being met with fear, judgment and
misunderstanding.
"If I could define enlightenment
briefly I would say it is 'the quiet acceptance of what is'"
is a quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer that I personally like. But
this one by Jack Handy made me laugh: "If you ever reach
total enlightenment while drinking beer, I bet it makes beer
shoot out your nose." It's time for some enlightenment from
an angel in the form of a whisper:
The origin of most words
emanate from a feeling, which is then expressed through
the use of letters or symbols. The ancient civilizations
were building language using symbols in much the same way
as today. When a word is misused, misunderstood or
attached to judgments, the original intended meaning can
become diluted. I hope you have just become enlightened to
the fact that you can be persuaded to follow the
vibrations of judgments and misuse if you allow that.
Now is the time when greater awareness is placed in the
hands of the individual in order to make conscious choices
around the evolving world of today. Words have even
greater meaning as communication expands to reach all
corners of the globe. Enlightenment speaks to this raised
awareness on many levels, from the extremely personal and
internal, to the consciousness of an entire species facing
issues of survival.
Your personal journey speaks to your enlightenment while
conveying energetic meanings to your family, friends, and
neighbors. The choices you make carry a consequence into
this circle, so choose your path carefully. Like the
experience of traveling through the darkest night, some
light will help illuminate the truth of your journey, and
somewhere along the way you may shine that light on
another human being.
The brightest light in the Universe transcends visual
definition while finding its way to your heart in order to
ask the questions: What does your heart desire? What does
your soul need? Where do you find comfort? Will you choose
to stand in the light? The answers are found within your
essence.
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
