Goals or Intentions?
One of my readers asked the
question, "What is the difference between goals and
intentions?" She is such a beautiful person I was lured
into the curious world of wonder around the words and
language we use. Plus I'm married to her and thought I had
better get on it (tee hee)! Besides, it is the time of
year when we focus on our resolutions.
Intention might be defined as an anticipated outcome that
guides your planned actions and forms new patterns. While
goals could be defined as the state of affairs that a plan
is intended to achieve and that (when achieved) terminates
behavior. According to Diana Scharf Hunt, "Goals are
dreams with deadlines."
My thoughts around this discernment are that goals can
focus on physical manifestations while intentions are
connected to your spirit. The way we position and carry
ourselves as we reach for our goals or the purpose behind
the goals might speak toward the intention.
Obstacles might slow our achievements or prevent us from
reaching our goals, yet our intentions stay intact and in
some ways may guide us. The action steps taken toward
reaching goals can be influenced by our intentions, like
staying on a path that keeps us in integrity. Let's set an
intention to receive information from the angels and reach
for the stars that are sprinkled amongst the goals:
Your intentions should bear
little focus on the outcome as the journey is more in the
spotlight than the destination. Intentions connect you
with your spirit in a way that can guide you with respect
to action steps around reaching goals. There is a lot of
information available that might lead you to believe that
you can simply close your eyes while sitting on the couch
and attract everything you need. In truth, it is your
total participation that attracts those things you wish to
create in life and fulfills your goals.
The best approach to this creation is having a range of
goals and intentions that include small and large benefits
or, better yet, that build on each other to create a
higher possible outcome and benefit to others. When your
goals are attached to what others believe and if you are
basing your projections on how others might receive your
actions, then you are vibrating with the lowest human
denominator. That is why clarity and vision are essential
aspects of setting goals and intentions that fit you and
your needs.
If you include serving a higher purpose in your thoughts
of goals and intentions, you elevate yourself from the
mind that fills with questions around how you might reach
that resolution. By clearing away past hurts and false
judgments that have supported perspectives that tend to
focus on failures, you can break old paradigms and release
obstacles that are standing in your way. Integrity will
align you with your goals and intentions while bringing
peace and contentment that feed the soul.
If you must measure your success, be present in the
conscious assessment of your reality while simultaneously
connecting with your spiritual truth. Take a leap of faith
that contains energy with a message that says you need not
suffer or sacrifice, then accept that things are really
very simple. Teaching only love is the best way to learn!
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it! Blessings, Russell

Dearest Russell –
I just needed to say hello and send you such gratitude for
putting me on the list to receive your Angel Whispers that you
do for everyone each week.
There is so much I get from them, and they especially ring
true as a message I am needing even when it doesn’t seem that
way at the beginning – there is always one!
But often times many!!!
Such Divine perfection!
