Mariposa
My first book is named Mariposa,
which is the Spanish word for butterfly as well as the
name of the street on which I live (tee hee). I have
written songs, poetry and chapters dedicated to this
unusual creature in our world. Some believe that the
butterfly represents transformation with an ability to
move between the spirit world and the physical.
One reader writes in response to the last whisper: "I
exited the tub, dressed in my pajamas and plopped on the
couch to watch TV. Russell, the program was on the Monarch
Butterfly and it told of how it takes several generations
for the butterflies to complete the journey from the
northern US (and Canada) to Mexico and back again. One
butterfly makes part of the trip, breeds, then dies and
the offspring continue the journey and the process repeats
itself over and over again. So here is the whisper: This
lifetime is only one leg of a journey."
In this light, you can start to understand the role that
the generations preceding each of us plays in our current
lives. The special connection and journey we share with
our ancestors lives and breathes within us as one building
block stacks upon the other. Let's see what the angels say
about the word mariposa.
Nature provides many answers to
the questions of life, and the butterfly is no exception.
Facing incredible and life-threatening odds, the butterfly
is undaunted with a zest for life that inspires the
journey of a lifetime. Then with style and grace, this
fragile-winged creature displays a love for life that is
unmatched in the world.
The mariposa represents the vivid colors and beauty
available in the world, even to those with short lives.
Both the sweet and the bittersweet aspects are presenting
a duality that requires the whole-hearted participation of
the soul with every flight. The butterfly illuminates the
partnership that exists between the nature world and
mankind in a way that focuses the need to understand and
accept certain truths in life.
The abundant earth provides the opportunity to accept that
all your needs will be met if you are willing to have
faith that over the next horizon is sweet nectar and a
peaceful, nurturing environment. There is also an
opportunity to honor those that have supported your
journey as a way to propel you into the future, riding a
stream of love that once found momentum from the birth of
a single seed.
Allow the mariposa to display the deepest form of love for
life as one example of the building blocks for the soul.
The understanding gained from the movement of air found in
the wings of a butterfly is all you need to connect with
nature and a Higher Power. Beyond that, start each day
with an open heart, a willing mind and wishful soul as you
create discoveries in the deepest levels of love for life.

and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
