Magic
"Do you believe in magic ...?"
Isn't that an old Lovin' Spoonful song? We could all use a
little help from time to time, and when something feels or
appears as magic, it can just make you smile and feel
good. Miracles might be viewed as magic, and everyone
loves a story that contains the unexplained or
supernatural.
Magic could be defined as any art that invokes
supernatural powers or an illusory feat considered magical
by naïve observers. Magic can possess or use
characteristics normally associated with supernatural
powers such as "charming incantations," I am not sure if
that definition works for me, but I like what Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe once said: "Magic is believing in
yourself. If you can do that, anything is possible."
David Blaine, the magician, held his breath for more than
seventeen minutes to set a world record and defy medical
science. After Blaine failed many attempts, his doctor
offered a simple suggestion on how to accomplish the feat.
He told him, "You are a magician, aren't you? Then use
magic." Even though the act was monitored and witnessed by
many, skeptics still discount the fact that he really
accomplished the extraordinary challenge.
Magic could be one of those words that we each get a
chance to personally define. I will go on record today as
a naïve observer who not only believes in, but loves to
believe in magic, as I become still in order to receive a
magical angel whisper:
There are many ways that the
human body is capable of having experiences with feelings
generated from beyond the body senses. In this age, people
have well-developed analytical minds that can easily
discount anything that defies logic. It is those who seek
and acknowledge the expansive possibilities in the
Universe who are open to the supernatural.
Even if you place magic under the heading of
entertainment, you can still see the joy and connection
with Spirit that unfolds in an illusion. If you are
actively co-creating that illusion, then maybe you are
drawing magical energy with an invitation for unexplained
events to come into your awareness.
Science, religion and technology can support magic or not,
depending on the perspective. There is no logical data
that would support a jet airplane with no engine thrust
landing in the Hudson and floating while everyone escaped,
yet it did happen.
If you are truly creating your own reality, as some
science might suggest, then you are making the choice to
accept certain possibilities that might not be supported
by the analytical mind. Empowerment, enlightenment and the
willingness to embrace the mystery that is part of the
make-up of the world will lead you into magical
experiences and the ability to set aside anything blocking
you from knowing that your life is everything but void of
magic.
You are a master of illusion, so go out and make some
magic! As you spread joy through magic, your soul feels
the vibrations of a spirit in service to love.
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
