Week of May 23, 2010:
Trees
With the current disaster in the
Gulf of Mexico, it is hard to be distracted from the
environmental concerns that we face. Once again, we all
have to find ways to live with such a tragedy in the face
of mounting evidence that it was a man-made event. So
today, I turn to our friends the trees to help me stay
grounded and centered in the truth. Then I turn to the
children for another perspective.
I watched the daughter of a friend stand in my driveway,
hugging a tree with such passion and determination that I
asked her what she was doing. "Loving this tree," she
replied in a blissful state. After several minutes of
this, I asked in the form of a statement, "That tree needs
a lot of love tonight."
"Well, just look at it. It's so tiny to be holding up so
much!" she exclaimed as she pointed to the tree top. So I
backed off and let her have all the time she wanted
hugging that tree. The next day the tree fell over with no
wind or storm; it was top-heavy. So today, I am going to
ask the angels to help me know whatever any seven-year-old
knows about trees (tee hee):
The tree sustains life on Earth as
a bridge between the land and sky and creates an exchange
of energy that becomes known as breathable air. Without
trees, most forms of life on the planet's surface would
cease to exist. They are also the ultimate barometer,
marking the events of time, the seasons, environmental
challenges and foretelling[?] the future.
The partnership that trees have with man was forged in the
Divine Providence, and now supported by the Universal laws
that govern your world. Symbols and images around the
globe use trees to represent life as communicated in the
most ancient text know to mankind. The Tree of Life
represents the way faith and knowledge are synthesized
into action within every natural act of survival by every
species on Earth.
Your relationship with trees speaks to the heart of your
perspective on life, creation and the energy that
surrounds you.
In the center of everything that is held sacred, there is
a magnificent tree. Some of mankind's most peaceful
gestures were treaties signed under the canopy of a tree.
The gates to Heaven are adorned with beautiful tree
specimens that evoke the eyes to look upward. The roots of
the tree hold steady the spinning Earth, to bring the
silence that awakens the senses of mankind.
Bring joy, ease suffering
and create beauty, then dance like you mean it!
